They were ours as a gift, but never to keep,
As they close their eyes forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound,
On silver wings they fly.
A million white horses,
Against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven,
You'll see them above.
The horses we lost,
The horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing,
As they gallop through time,
They were never yours- they were never mine.
Don't cry for the horses,
They'll be back some day.
When our time is gone,
They will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker?
Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses,
Love the ones that are here.

Title & Author Unknown

Not many people understand
Just how you feel today
And really it’s so difficult
To find the words to say
For you have lost a special friend
Who meant so much to you
And they will stay inside your heart
Whatever you may do
Such precious recollections
Of love you truly shared
And natural devotion
That can never be compared
So just remember happy moments
Smile if you can
Be thankful for time you had
And you will understand
Although it’s hard, there has to be
A time to say “Goodbye”
But memories which are dear to you
Will never ever die

Do not stand at my stable and weep,
I am not there I do not sleep,

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamonds that glint in snow.

I am the sunlight on the ripened grain,
I am the warm gentle Autumn rain,

When you waken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.

Of quite birds in circle flight,
I am that big Twinkling star at night.

Do you think?.............

Do you think that I am over it
Better than before
Maybe I've forgotten
Doesn't hurt me anymore?

Do you think that I am doing fine
No tears are shed each day
Get up and just get going
Pain has all but gone away?

Do you think that I am coping
Living life just as you do
If that's what you imagine...
You don't have a single clue.

I cope, I cry, and I deny
I've learned how I must hide
Keep everything within me
Bottled up deep down inside.

I can't be who I was before
I've changed I'm someone new
It happens when you have a loss
You would be different too.

I'm so misunderstood each day
To tired to explain
Not over it, or better
Simply put... I'm not the same.

And will never be because you left me.

SWEET DAISY

Rainbow Bridge - Edited for Horses
Author Unknown
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When a horse dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run with the wind and enjoy the companionship of their own kind.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable; fear and worry free. All the horses who had been ill and old are restored to health and the vigor of youth. Those who were abused, hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we would want to remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The horses are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind, so long ago. In each mind there is a "someone" who was kind, gentle and loving. One someone who took the extra step, stayed the extra minute, reached out and touched with love, even once.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, galloping over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy nickering rings in your ears and a velvet muzzle nuzzles your face; your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the big, trusting eyes of your special love and partner, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

DAISY

Palomino, bay, and sorrel
Galloping into the sunset.
One hoof beat says it all
When I am riding you in silence.
Your breath smells like clover
Your mane like prairie grass.
You’re the one I’ll always love
The one I’d spend my life with.
You make me happy when I am sad
The sun to block away the rainy clouds.
I know you’ll never let me fall
When we take that leap over a log.
Your soft brown eyes are filled with wonder
So depthless, mystical, and round
Like a fortuneteller’s crystal ball.
The day comes when you disappear from my grasp
Tears slide down my cheeks like a river.
The vet holds me back from you,
The look of pain filling both our eyes.
The last time you’ll ever look at me
The last time I’ll ever look at you.
As you nicker your last words to me,
My heart starts to speak.
I’ll see you again in heaven
Where you’ll feel the pain no more.
Your eyes close and your lungs stop filling with air,
The only thing left is my despair.
Nothing can ever separate our bond,
You’re still with me in my heart.
That night I swore I saw you,
With angel wings like a Pegasus.
Your soft nose rubs against my chest,
As you whisper one last time:
I’ll see you again in heaven my friend,
Weep for me no more.
I’ll wait for you for years and years,
Our spirits never leaving each other’s hearts.
You’re the only one I have loved all my life,
The one that I could always trust.
The day I died pictures flashed before my eyes,
Of us galloping, jumping, and being together.
Our first ribbon, our first flight,
That was the day I swore we both had wings.
I’ll always remember you and you’ll always remember me.

Ask My Mum How She Is...

My Mum, she tells a lot of lies,
She never did before.
But from now until she dies,
She'll tell a whole lot more.

Ask my Mum how she is
And because she can't explain,
She will tell a little lie
Because she can't describe the pain.

Ask my Mum how she is,
She'll say "I'm alright."
If that's the truth, then tell me,
why does she cry each night ?

Ask my Mum how she is,
She seems to cope so well.
She didn't have a choice you see,
Nor the strength to yell.

Ask my Mum how she is,
"I'm fine, I'm well, I'm coping."
For God's sake Mum, just tell the truth,
Just say your heart is broken.

She'll love me all her life,
I loved her all of mine.
But if you ask her how she is,
She'll lie and say she's fine.

I am Here in Heaven.
I cannot hug her from here.
If she lies to you don't listen,
Hug her and hold her near.

On the day we meet again,
We'll smile and I'll be bold.
I'll say, "You're lucky to get in here, Mum,
With all the lies you told!"

Precious Love

The agony is so great...
and yet I will stand it.
Had I not loved so very much...
I would not hurt so much.
But God knows I would not want to diminish
that precious love...
By one fraction of an ounce.
I will hurt...
And I will be grateful for that hurt
For it bears witness to the depth of my love.
And for that I will be eternally grateful.
